Midwest Haunters Convention 2010

June 5-7, 2010 ~ I wore my Freakshow costume and my wife came along to take pictures. I’m impressed each year by the creativity and quality of everyone’s costumes… and their ability to party hard all night long.

Freakshow Jester Halloween Costume 2010

I made Freakshow, a giant jester costume, as a companion to go with “Chunk the Clown” (aka Jumbo). Both costumes are oversized, and are scary enough just as a simple costume, but they both also include an additional scare that people aren’t expecting. In the case of Freakshow, the torso tilts back to expose my own head so I can scare people. It also helps me cool off and interact with people at parties.

Pajama Game Special Effects

I was hired to create the special effects for the musical “The Pajama Game”. The special effects consisted of:

  • 4 fake throwing knives
  • 7 mechanical knives that pop out from behind walls to simulate the knives being thrown
  • small puff of smoke for a sewing machine having mechanical problems
  • giant sparks for the same sewing machine having bigger problems

DIY Animated Christmas Elf

I made this animated Elf to decorate my house for Christmas in 2009.

The fan I used was really cheap and it burned out after the first night. If you try this, be sure to use a good fan and balance the weight.
